About The Rally
Ramshackle Bucharest is the newest and wildest rally from the team at Ramshackle HQ. The willing participants must place their trust in a few quid's worth of scrap metal and set off on an epic banger rally covering 1600 miles. Teams compete on a voyage of self-discovery taking in sights and scenes along the way in what will become the craziest banger rally on the European circuit. This is all before driving the mighty Transfagarasan Highway, “The best driving road in the world” (named by Top Gear). Sounds fairly tame from a Ramshackle perspective!
The rally lasts for Five days as teams compete in the daily challenges to score points and simply put the team with the most points at the end of it all is the winner and ultimately snatch the prized trophy!
If you are a veteran Ramshackler you will know the score and like all good Ramshackle adventures, this rally is completely unsupported. We could have arranged for support vehicles driven by master mechanics to follow behind with supplies, spares, caskets and the like, but we haven't. What fun would that be?
The responsibility for looking after you lies only with you! There is no plan B until it happens so let your hair down, throw caution to the wind and see where you end up at the end of each crazy day. The Ramshackle Spirit means most teams by day two are in convoy and are rarely alone.
Don't worry, you'll be fine. Remember this is supposed to be a character building experience and breaking down in the foothills of the Romanian mountains when you're 50 miles from anything, it's getting dark and nobody speaks English is quality entertainment!Throw caution to the wind
The Transfagarasan Highway in Romania is a road not a lot of Romanian people have driven let alone dared to in a banger. The Transfagarasan Highway was chosen by Top Gear as the best driving road knocking the epic Stelvio Pass from first place.
The Transfagarasan Highway is 90 km of sweeping roads, hair pins, and steep drops. The highway climbs up to 2,034 metres in altitude with amazing views spanning as far as the eye can see. It is the second highest paved road in Romania after Transalpina, which Ramshacklers can attempt if the banger is still going strong and time is on your side.
Romania is an amazing and beautiful country and most people know very little about it, except from Top Gear.
Romania is the home of Count Dracula, Transylvania castle, as well as the famous Transfagarasan highway. This is truly an Epic Rally route and not for the faint of heart….Bring it on!
